Possible RIF in police department on Timpson City Council agenda when they meet this evening

The Timpson City Council will once again visit the possibility of a reduction in force of the city’s police department when they meet at 5:30 p.m. this evening.

 

That regular meeting will be preceded by a special teleconference consultation meeting at 5 p.m. with the city attorney regarding legal issues involving the possible RIF in the police department, required policy changes and legal risks if any to the City of Timpson.

 

Ordering a city council election for May 9, and hiring an early-voting election judge and clerk will also be on the agenda.

 

In addition the Timpson City Council will consider accepting the resignation of City Secretary Barbara Hunt and advertising for applications for the job are among other agenda items. Ms. Hunt’s last day is April 30.

 

During citizen input, Cecil Parks is expected to address the council again concerning an incident with Police Chief Kent Graham.

 

Also, Roy Hutto with Hutto Wrecker has asked to address council to discuss wrecker rotation within the City of Timpson.

 

Noel Johnson, a field representative with the Texas Municipal Police Association has asked to make public comment at tonight's meeting of the Timpson City Council.
