We have more information on a story we had Thursday involving a child being struck by a car in Center.

According to a Center Police Department incident report, a 4-year female was accidentally run over by a vehicle in the Pecan Grove Trailer Park in the 1300 block of Shelbyville Street around 7 p.m. that evening.

Officer Steven Thornburgh said he responded to the call to find Elva Julian holding a small child and advised the youngster had been run over by a vehicle.

The driver was identified as 32-year old Jose Martinez Rodriguez, who reported to Officer Thornburgh that he did not know he had hit the child, until somebody had told him.

Rodriguez remained on the scene following the incident.

The child was taken by ACE EMS to Center Emergency Department and then life-flighted to University Health in Shreveport. We understand the child has not internal injuries and will be OK.
