Athens, TX-  During the first half of the Ponies' conference matchup with the Trinity Valley Cardinals it was a slow paced game dominated by stingy defense for both teams.  The Ponies were plagued by the lack of defensive rebounding and turnovers as the Cardinals capitalized. Halfway through the first half the Ponies trailed by two, and with five minutes remaining in the first half the Ponies trailed by five. At the half the Ponies trailed 25-34.

During the infant stages of the second half tough defense paced the game much like the first half.  With 15 minutes remaining in the game the Ponies trailed by two.  Soon after the Cardinals went on a 14-6 run as the Ponies were plagued by offensive misfires and turnovers.  The Ponies rallied back, but the the Cardinals went on a massive run to close the game out.  The Ponies lost 58-81.  The Ponies were lead in scoring by; Tommy Heard III (12), Olajuwon Isiaka (9), and Richard Mazique (8).
