UPDATE: Dist. 22-2A girls' playoff tie-breaker series to be played in Tenaha

A decision has been made to break the three-way tie for second place in the girls’ Dist. 22-2A basketball race and determine the playoff seeding.

Shelbyville, Joaquin and Martinsville all ended the regular season at 6-4, behind district champion Tenaha (10-0).

A coin flip between the three teams determined Shelbyville to be the “odd” team, with Joaquin and Martinsville the “even” teams and meeting in Game 1.

The tiebreaker games will be played at Tenaha ISD’s Special Events Center starting Thursday night.

In Game 1, Martinsville takes on Joaquin at 6:30 p.m.

The winner of Game 1 will play Shelbyville at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Game 2.

If necessary a Game 3 would be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Tenaha.

District officials tell us Shelbyville would have to lose Friday’s Game 2 to force a Game 3 against the loser of Game 1.

A Shelbyville win Friday puts the Lady Dragons in as the second seed in the playoffs, with the loser as third seed.

The 22-2A second and third seeds will play Dist. 21-2A Overton and Cushing in bi-district.
