San Augustine County Commissioners to approve grant application to build social services' building

The San Augustine County Commissioners’ Court will have a meeting at 9 a.m. this morning and among the agenda items for discussion and possible approval will be resolution to submit application for a Texas Community Development Block Grant to the Department of Agriculture.

According to County Judge Administrative Assistant Sandy Jenkins this grant would be used to possibly build a building for the county’s community social services.

In addition, San Augustine County Commissioners will look at purchasing a new computer for JP Pct. 3 Billy Williams. There will also be a presentation of Master Gardner certificates.

County Judge Samye Johnson will also give an update on the Nextstep Ministries Project. Ms. Jenkins says San Augustine County is “excited” about the project, which would provide much needed repairs to citizen’s homes, as well as construction projects.

According to the ministries’ website, Next Step is a non-profit organization committed to helping students grow closer to Christ through life-changing, one-week mission trips.

Ms. Jenkins adds they would be coming to San Augustine the next 10 years during the summer and spring break for missions, starting next month.
