A Shelbyville man was killed in Jasper County when he reportedly ran out in front of a log truck on US Hwy. 96 south Wednesday morning.

 

DPS Communications-Lufkin says 26-year old Jody Michael Vaughn, for unknown reason, ran out in front of a southbound 18-wheeler at approximatly 7 a.m., two miles south of Jasper. 

 

The driver of the truck, 41-year old Johnny Reed of Weirgate, was not injured, but was visibly shaken, according to the DPS report.

 

Vaughn was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The accident remains under investigation, as authorities try to uncover why Vaughn ran out in front of the truck.
