Local Sports Round up 12/30/14; San Augustine, Shelbyville & Tenaha go 1-for-2 in first day of Holiday Hoops Classic

It’s Day 2 of the Tenaha ISD's 6th annual Holiday Hoops Scholarship Classic. Consolation bracket games tip-off at 8:30 a.m. with boys' and girls' winner bracket games getting underway at 4 p.m. this afternoon at the Tenaha ISD Special Events Center. The girls' final will be played at 2 p.m. Wednesday, and boys' at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

In Monday’s boys' action, San Augustine, Shelbyville and Tenaha all get first round wins, as the Wolves beat Hughes Springs, 58-32; the Dragons defeat Saltillo, 68-63; and the Tigers defeat Alto, 78-38. However, each lost in second-round games. San Augustine came up short to Lapoynor, 38-50; Kountze beat Shelbyville, 68-47; and an old renewed rivalry saw state-ranked Laneville beat Tenaha, 79-46.

The Center Roughriders and Lady Riders will resume action after the holiday break on Jan. 2. The Riders will be in Nacogdoches and the Lady Riders are home against Jasper.
