Local Sports Round up 12/29/14; Tenaha Holiday Hoops Scholarship Classic tips-off at 8 a.m.

The Tenaha ISD will host the 6th annual Holiday Hoops Scholarship Classic today thru Wednesday. Forty of the state’s top boys and girls Class 1A, 2A, and 3A programs will descend upon Tenaha for an opportunity to battle it out on the hardwood for what has become one of Texas’ top invitational tournament trophies. The tourney includes 71 games over three days being played in Tenaha, Gary, Joaquin and Carthage. Games tip-off at 8 a.m. this morning. Among local teams taking part are the San Augustine Wolves & Lady Wolves, Shelbyville Dragons & Lady Dragons, Joaquin Lady Rams, Broaddus Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs, and the Tenaha Tigers and Lady Tigers.

 

The Joaquin Rams will be at Troup Tuesday, Dec. 30.

 

The Center Roughriders and Lady Riders will resume action after the holiday break on Jan. 2. The Riders will be in Nacogdoches and the Lady Riders are home against Jasper.

 

The White-tailed Deer general hunting season will come to an end this Sunday, Jan. 4. There will be a Youth-only deer hunting period from Jan. 5 through Jan. 18. Also, a two-week Dove hunting season is underway now through Jan. 7.
