With strong job growth in Texas, the state-wide unemployment rate for November fell to 4.9 percent, down from 5.1 percent in October.
Shelby County’s November jobless rate has drop to 4.7 percent, which is slightly less than last months, but a strong showing from the 6.4 percent in November a year ago.
San Augustine’s November unemployment was 8 percent, about the same as last month’s but down from the 9.6 percent in Nov. 2013.
In neighboring counties, Sabine County’s Nov. jobless rate remains one of the highest in this part of the state at 10.4 percent, Nacogdoches was 4.5, Angelina 4.6 and Panola County’s unemployment rate was 3.5 percent.
Statewide, the job growth in Texas has expanded to a new high for a fourth month in a row.
