We told you yesterday that San Augustine County authorities have made an arrest with more wanted for the theft of items such as oil, diesel batteries from oil and gas well sites in the county.

 

A second suspect has now been arrested, as 20-year old Russell Smith, Jr. of Hemphill has been charged with theft and engaging in criminal activity.

 

Arrested last week was 25-year old Joshua Miles Bearden of San Augustine.

 

Two other men, 37-year old Roy Edward Marshall of San Augustine and 21-year old Jeremy Bradford Sowell of Hemphill remain at large.

 

DeSoto Parish authorities are also having issues with thieves taking batteries and solar panels from oil well locations throughout the parish.

 

According to the DeSoto Parish Crime Stoppers, they are seeking information in locating/identifying suspect(s) wanted from the DeSoto Parish area.

 

The thefts began earlier this month and among the items stolen include 12-volt Power Patrol brand gel cell batteries and solar panels.
