Timpson has water, boil notice in effect, school will resume today

Water is back on in the City of Timpson and there will be school today after an unexpected outage had the town without service Wednesday morning.

Mayor Debra Smith says Timpson remains under a Boil Water Notice until required test results give an OK. That could come as early as mid-morning today.

Mayor Smith says an unknown tractor-trailer rig apparently left the roadway and ran over the sidewalk, curb and eventually a hydrant, breaking the water line beneath the hydrant just after midnight yesterday.

Quick work by the city’s public works crew had the issued repaired by late morning Wednesday.

As a pre-caution the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requires the mandatory Boil Water Notice until test results give the green light.

Superintendent Dr. Mid Johnson said precautions have been taken at the school, and bottled water has been brought in for use by the Timpson ISD until the all-clear is given.
