City of Timpson water service resumes, Boil Water Notice issued till further notice

Water service has been restored in the City of Timpson after a vehicle struck a fire hydrant along Railroad Avenue in downtown Timpson after midnight.

According to Mayor Debra Smith,r a truck (or its trailer), left the roadway and ran over/through the sidewalk, curb and fire hydrant, breaking the water line beneath the hydrant early Wednesday morning.

She said the identify of the driver and supposed vehicle is not known.

The incident left the City of Timpson with very low water pressure as the city's storage tanks were drawn down considerably. Service was shut-down while repairs were made to the break.

By mid-morning today, water was back on.

The issue forced the cancellation of classes at Timpson ISD.

Due to the major break, a Boil Water Notice has been issued for the City of Timpson until further notice.
