At 6:11 a.m. Monday, DPS Troopers responded to the scene of a two vehicle crash on US 96 approximately 8 miles South of San Augustine in San Augustine County.

The preliminary investigation indicates a 2000 Chevrolet truck driven by
62-year old Jimmy Minor from Beaumont was traveling northbound on US 96 when he drove into the south bound lanes of US 96 and struck a 2013 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer. The Freightliner was driven by 47-year old Candyce Gay Porter from Fordland Missouri.

Minor was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Ardis Mosby.

Porter was not reported as being injured in the crash.

Jennifer Hartung, a passenger with Porter, was transported to CHI St. Luke's Health in San Augustine and later released.

The crash remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
