Santa to be a busy fella with parades and other events this weekend

Santa Claus is coming to Center this Saturday, December 6.

 

Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade Committee Chairman Randy Collard reports that vendors will be serving hot chocolate, sweet tea, grilled chicken sandwiches, chocolate covered pretzels and baked goods on the historic downtown Center square beginning at 4:00 p.m. prior to Santa’s Christmas Parade.

 

Vendors include Center High School Junior Chamber of Commerce and Culinary Arts students, Providence Missionary Baptist Church and Jackson Missionary Baptist Church.

 

According to Collard, Grand Marshal Rick Campbell will lead the parade at 6:00 p.m. North Pole themed floats and features will make their way through the heart of town to delight the young and old alike.

 

Parade winners will be announced via media on Monday.

 

Also, the 19th annual Miss Merry Christmas and Mister Happy Holiday’s Pageant in Center will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Center Middle School Auditorium.

 

Breakfast with Santa hosted by Xi Alpha Delta Rho sorority will be held in Center Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Windham Civic Center. Doors open at 9 a.m. and tickets are $12, and includes breakfast, a candy ornament a 4x6 photo with Santa, face painting and BOOM BOOM Photo Both fun. No tickets will be sold at the door. The San Augustine Chamber of Commerce Miss Merry Christmas Parade and Pageant and Business Decorating Contest is coming up. This year's Theme is: Santa's Workshop. The parade will be at 5 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 5, and the pageant at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6.

 

The Timpson Chamber of Commerce is planning a day with Santa this Saturday, Dec. 6. Come join Santa for a pancake breakfast and photo opportunity between 8:30 and 10 a.m.—Santa should arrive around 9 a.m. at Frontier Café on the square in Timpson. Breakfast is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors (65 & older) and children (12 & under), and free for children under 4 with parent, with group or family discount available. Proceeds benefit the City of Timpson Parks. The annual Timpson Christmas Parade will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
