Several toy drives continue for area youngsters

The Shelby County Children’s Advocacy Center is conducting their annual Toy Drive through Dec. 12. They’re asking for contributions of toys and clothing to be distributed to the children they have served in the past year, ranging in age from 3 to 17. Donations can be dropped by the Advocacy Center at 220 Field Street in Center. In addition, Wright Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Center is "Stocking a Ram" for the Shelby County Children's Advocacy Center this Christmas. The dealership is accepting donations of new, unwrapped gifts through Dec. 12. For each donation, you'll be registered for a chance to win a TV.

Shelby County Attorney Gary Rholes’ annual County Attorney Toy Drive continues through Dec. 8. Donations of new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls, ages 3 thru 13, or monetary donations are being accepted. Rholes says his staff works with Shelby County schools to obtain names of deserving children. The toys are then distributed by his office. Anyone needing further information call the County Attorney’s Office at (936-598-6100).

The Community Partners Rainbow Room is collecting toys for children in CPS care. The goal is to help those that are not being served by other organizations. Displays are set up at Farmers State Bank and Shelby Savings Bank. Donors are encouraged to select a tag from the display, purchase a toy and return the unwrapped gift to the bank by Dec. 16.
