Local jobless numbers show decrease in Texas Workforce's latest info

Good news on the local job front as Shelby County's October unemployment rate fell to 4.8 percent, down from 5.2 percent in September, and down from 6.6 percent in October 2013.

 

Shelby County's unemployment is also below the state-wide rate of 5.1 percent.

 

San Augustine County's October jobless rate is also down to 7.9 percent, as compared to 8.5 percent in September and from 9.9 percent a year ago.

 

Sabine County's rate, which is historically one of the highest in the region, has also shown a decrease. Even though it's 9.9 percent, it's an almost 3 percent drop from 12.7 in October 2013.

 

In neighboring counties, Nacogdoches County's unemployment for October is 4.7 percent, Angelina at 4.8 and Panola County 3.7 percent.
