Joaquin VFD firemen respond to house fire Sunday night, moderate fire, heavy smoke reported

The Joaquin Volunteer Fire Dept. was called to a house fire at 7:20 p.m. last night on FM 2787.

 

According to Stephen Ewing, firefighters arrived to find a wood-frame house with heavy smoke coming from the attic. The homeowner stated the fire started in the kitchen of the home, and he had sprayed water through the kitchen window with a garden hose prior to arrival of fire units.

 

Fireman entered the structure wearing air mask to inspect for remaining fire.

 

Ewing said the fire department used a positive pressure ventilation fan to evacuate smoke from the home.

 

It’s reported the home sustained moderate fire and heavy smoke damage. Fire units returned to the station by 7:45 p.m.
