Tenaha ISD staff 100% Highly Qualified for 10 consecutive years

For the tenth year, Tenaha teachers have all met the federally mandated “highly qualified” standard, according to a report at Monday’s Tenaha Independent School District’s board of trustees meeting.

Under federal law, the definition of a “highly qualified” teacher is one who holds at least a bachelor degree from a four-year college/university, fully-certified or licensed by the state in which they serve and demonstrates competence in each core academic subject area in which the teacher teaches.

All school districts are responsible for identifying and documenting “highly qualified” teachers. The human resources departments of the school districts can help teachers in determining their statuses.

“We are glad to report that every teacher at Tenaha Schools meets that standard,” Scott Tyner, superintendent of schools for TISD, said.

“Every staff member is focused on helping every individual child become the best in everything,” Tyner said, “That is the legacy of Tenaha teachers.”
