Center woman arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Evidence following traffic stop in Joaquin

A Center woman was arrested on Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tampering with Evidence charges by Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies during a traffic stop in Joaquin earlier this week.

Sheriff Willis Blackwell says 25-year old Stephanie Louise Jackson was observed by Narcotic Investigator John Pope while on patrol traveling west on Hwy. 84 East in a Nissan four-door car Monday.

Pope conducted a stop and found Jackson did not have a driver’s license, nor proof of insurance. With assistance from deputies Bradley Horton & Kurtes Lawrence, the subject was found to be in possession of a white powder and rock substance believed to be meth.

Jackson was taken into custody with bond set at $5,000 for the possession charge and $10,000 for the tampering charge by JP Pct. 3 Margie Anderson.

Sheriff Blackwell encourages citizens that suspect illegal narcotic activity to please contact Center Crime Stoppers or the sheriff’s office at 598-5600.

All calls will remain anonymous.
