Father of Sabine County child says infant was shaken to death, GoFundMe account has been set up for funeral expenses

The father of the Sabine County infant that died Nov. 8 is saying the five-month old was shaken to death by the mother’s boyfriend.

On Nov. 7 Sophia Candanosa was taken to the Sabine County Hospital after she suddenly stopped breathing. She was then flown to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston where she died the next day. The child was in the care of Matthew Hudson while the mother was at work. He was arrested last Tuesday on murder charges and remains in the Sabine County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

Tracie Candonosa made the allegation over the weekend. An autopsy was conducted, with the official cause of death pending. Officials are saying the child suffered from some type of trauma to the head.

A GoFundMe account was set up in Sophia Candonosa’s name to assist with burial expenses.
