The first round of the state high school football playoffs begin tonight.

 

San Augustine (5-5) takes on Harleton (8-2) at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Carthage Bulldog Stadium. The winner gets Centerville in area. Center Broadcasting will carry the game on 925 KXXE. Also, the (4-5) Garrison Bulldogs will meet (8-1) Franklin at 7 p.m. tonight in Palestine. The winner will play the Maypearl/Jarrell winner next.

 

Friday games:

 

Shelbyville (8-1) will play Ore City (8-2) at 7:30 p.m. in New London. The winner will play Alto in the second round next week.

 

Center Broadcasting will air the Shelbyville playoff game on Q-100 KQBB. You can also hear the games via our website at cbc-radio.com.

Timpson (4-5) vs. Evadale (7-3) 7 p.m. Friday in Hemphill. The winner has Chilton in the area round. At 3:45 on Friday Bear Fans are being asked to line Bear Drive to help send off the football team as they head to the first round of the playoffs. Bring your noisemakers and spirit signs.

 

The Tenaha Tigers have a first-round. They’ll play the Cumby-Hubbard winner.

 

The Logansport Tigers will host East Iberville at 7 p.m. Friday.

Center Roughrider Stadium will be the site of a Class 3A, Div. II first-round playoff game Friday as Kirbyville plays Elkhart at 7:30 p.m.

 

Girls' high school basketball action, the Tenaha Lady Tigers and Garrison Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to start play in the Chireno tournament today through Saturday; and the Timpson Lady Bears will host Mount Enterprise at 10 a.m. Saturday.
