Local Sports Round up 11/12/14

Center Roughrider football fans will want to take note. The quarterback of the Spring Hill football team is recovering in a Dallas area hospital after suffering a life-threatening concussion in the game with Atlanta last Friday night.

Senior Garrett Plumlee took a hit late in the third quarter, and training staff took immediate precautions and called an ambulance. While en route to Longview Regional Medical Center, Plumlee reportedly had to be resuscitated by medical officials.

Doctors had Plumlee flown to a Plano hospital Saturday after it was discovered he was experiencing brain hemorrhaging and could not breathe on his own.

After surgery was performed, word was received Sunday that Plumlee’s brain bleed had ceased and was able to be taken off life support. He woke up hours later and was coherent with no noticeable cognitive or functional issues outside some head trauma symptoms.

It’s reported Plumlee had suffered a broken leg the third game of the season and had returned to play in his final home game.
