One week after the election, there’s one race in the area still undecided. In the San Augustine ISD Board of Trustee election for Position 2, incumbent Ryan Garcia and Patricia McClure ended in a tie last Tuesday with each receiving 684 votes.

After yesterday’s deadline passed for “provisional” voters to have their photo ID verified and overseas votes in, San Augustine County Elections Administrator Deborah Woods tells us there are 8 possible ballots—one of which is from overseas, that could reveal who the winner is.

She tells us it would be up to the Early Voting Board to certify those vote, and with today being a holiday, it will likely be Wednesday when they meet.

She added if it’s still a tie, then a recount would be done and worst case, a coin flip could possibly determine the winner of the SAISD Position 3 race.
