Panola Fillies' Volleyball prepares for regional tournament Nov. 7-9

The Panola College Volleyball team is all set to open play in the 2014
Region XIV Tournament this weekend, November 7th-9th, at Lee College in
Baytown, Texas. As the #2 seed in the north, the Fillies (23-5) are set to
square off in the first round against San Jacinto College (19-11), the #3
seed out of the south side of the conference.

The Fillies, currently ranked 19th in the country, enter the tournament led
by a trio of sophomores who are leading the conference in several
statistical categories. Outside hitter Kennedi Coleman is leading the
conference in kills per set overall with 4.11, while right side hitter
Nathali Chaves is 6th on the list with 3.02. Coleman and Chaves also come
in 4th and 5th, respectively, in hitting efficiency during conference play.
Chaves is also 9th in service aces per set, while Coleman is 4th in blocks
per set and 8th in digs per set. Sophomore libero Justine Luis is the
overall leader in digs per set, posting a highly impressive 5.75 digs per
set clip during conference play.

This year's Region XIV Conference tournament is set to be another highly
competitive one, boasting four teams currently ranked in the nation's top
20, three more who were ranked at some point this season, and both the
defending NJCAA National Champion and Runner-Up from a year ago. Eight
teams have earned a spot to compete in this double-elimination format
tournament that will decide which two teams move on to represent Region XIV
at the National Tournament held in Casper, Wyoming later this month.
