Center Broadcasting has been able to verify that a Goodwill Industries store will be opening in Center soon.

We spoke with Goodwill Industries of East Texas Executive Director Kimberly Lewis yesterday and she said they will be opening the store in a portion of the old Wal-mart at the north traffic intersection, on the end opposite Tractor Supply within the month.

She noted the store will employee around 15 initially.

In addition, Ms. Lewis said they will be working with the East Texas Food Bank to offer a concept known as "Good Assist", which will be a one-stop for those seeking assistance.

Ms. Lewis noted they felt the Center market was a good one for opening a new location and said that Goodwill Industries looked forward to being in Center and Shelby County.

This will be the 16th Goodwill location under the guidance of Goodwill Industries of East Texas based in Tyler.
