A Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Department deputy was injured in a two-vehicle accident Friday at Loop 224 and Hwy. 7 West in Nacogdoches.

According to Sheriff Jason Bridges, Deputy Marguerite Vasquez suffered a broken ankle in the mishap as she took evasive action to avoid a vehicle that had exited the loop on the feeder ramp and was attempting to cross onto Hwy. 7.

Both Deputy Vasquez and the unidentified driver were transported to the hospital. The other drive was treated and released.

The accident is being investigated by the Texas DPS.
