Timpson City Coucil not to renew Code Red contract, to discuss possible police force reduction in November

The Timpson City Council has agreed to not renew the Code Red Contract for the next year.

Mayor Debra Smith said the emergency call out and/or text notification runs the city $2,000 annually, and it just wasn’t in the budget to continue. She added the company's street maps were also not been updated to match the city of Timpson.

Mayor Smith added that a discussion will take place at the November meeting in regards to possible reduction in the Timpson Police Department force.

She said Councilman Ronnie Wolfe has asked that it be placed on the meeting agenda as the City of Timpson works with a deficit agenda in the new Fiscal Year.
