Two new restaurants to open in Center

Two new eateries will be opening in Center, soon.

 

Kinnie and Kim Adams are the owners of "Chubby's Fried Chicken & Seafood" on Shelbyville Street in the former Fausto's location, and James Headley, who's had Pineywoods Seafood since 1997, will be opening "The BBQ Joint" in the former Harry's Smokehouse at 500 Cora Street in the next couple of weeks.

 

Adams says he'll offer casual dining with fried chicken, including livers and gizzards, and sides such as dirty rice, fried okra, corn nuggets, potatoes and gravy and baked beans. He added he'll be using Mississippi Farm Raised Catfish, and will also be offering shrimp and fried oysters. “Chubby’s Fried Chicken & Seafood” Hours will be 10:30 to 9, Monday thru Saturday.

 

Adams had KB Cafe on the Center square some 17 years ago, and recently retired from Sysco Foods.

 

At "The BBQ Joint", Headley says he'll be serving all the traditional meats including brisket, pork butt, chicken, hot links, sliced turkey and ham, along with turkey legs and boudain.

 

In addition, after 4 p.m. he'll fire up a Mesquite wood grill for steaks and fish, and will feature a sauce bar.

 

Headley has also gone in and made a private dining area for parties.

 

"The BBQ Joint" will be open six days, 10 to 9, Monday thru Saturday.
