AT&T Internet, cell phone and U-Verse service was restored in Shelby and San Augustine counties around lunch Thursday after a 20-hour outage that affected some 4,000 customers. A cut fiber optic line on Hwy. 7 west of Center was repaired and communications restored.

There was no indication from AT&T officials as to how the fiber optic line was cut.
