A Joaquin man lost his life in a one-vehicle accident around 10:45 a.m. Thursday morning on U.S. Hwy. 84 west of Joaquin.
DPS Communications in Lufkin says that Corporal Jimmy Faulkner’s report states that 24-Manuel Acopoa-Heredia was westbound in a 2014 Toyota Tundra, four miles from Joaquin when he drifted off the roadway and struck a tree.
The Joaquin Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to assist.
Acopoa-Heredia was pronounced dead at the scene by JP Pct. 3 Margie Anderson.
Funeral service for Manuel Acopoa-Heredia is pending at Mangum Funeral Home in Center.
This is the third fatality accident in Shelby County in the last week. 50-year old Dana Bordelon Guilbeau of Simmesport, Louisiana lost her life on Sept. 25 near Paxton in a three-vehicle crash, and 78-year old Charles Ray Davis of the Neuville Community died in a one-vehicle accident last Sunday.
