Severe weather a possibility with passage of cold front tonight

It appears the poultry festival activities today, for the most part, will be spared the brunt of our first significant cold front of the season.

The National Weather Service is saying scattered thunderstorms will be possible across the region as heat continues to build through today ahead of the front.

By this evening, into early Friday morning, the cold front will move across the area with showers and thunderstorms. Forecasters are saying some of these storms may be strong to severe with primary threats to be damaging winds and large hail.

What’s good is that the front will quickly exit the region before or just after sunrise Friday, with the threat of severe weather ending.

Forecast maps say the storms should race through between 7 to 10 p.m.

Hopefully we’ll get some much needed moisture before it blows through.

Behind the front…highs Friday & Saturday near 80, lows at or below 50 Friday & Saturday nights.
