38th East Texas Poultry Festival gets underway Thursday

The 38th East Texas Poultry Festival gets underway tomorrow thru Saturday in downtown Center.

 

Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday morning and sponsored by the Farmers State Bank. The program includes the “cutting of the feathers” by the 2014 Poultry Festival Queen & Court, presentations by local youngsters, followed by the opening of the food and arts & crafts booths.

 

The quilt show is being held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day in the Historic Courthouse, and the photography show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Vision Source, next to the Rio Theatre.

 

The carnival will be operating, with arm bands $18 for all-u-can ride from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and from 1-5 p.m. Friday.

 

There’s also local entertainment throughout the festival.

 

Admission to the poultry festival is $5.
