Last day of registration to vote in Nov. 4 election is Oct. 6, number of statewide & local races to be decided

If you're not a registered vote, you have until Monday, Oct. 6 to sign up so you'll be able to cast your ballot in the Nov. 4 general election.

 

There are a number of state-wide offices such as governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general among others to be decided.

 

Plus, a county-wide race in Shelby and San Augustine Counties for 273rd district judge, district-wide for State Senator Dist. 3, and for Shelby County Commissioner Pct. 2; Shelby County Justice of the Peace Pcts. 1, 2 & 5, and a Center City Council position for Place 2.

 

In addition, Center ISD Board of Trustees has four positions to be elected.

 

Also, in San Augustine County, the county judges' race, the San Augustine City Council where all four seats are contested, and four positions on the San Augustine ISD Board are up for election.

 

So, it's a busy political season heading into the next six weeks.

 

The first day of early voting is Oct. 20.

 

To register to vote in Shelby County, go to Voter Registrar Debora Riley's office in the courthouse, and in San Augustine County, you would see Election Administrator Deborah Woods.
