Tenaha Council OKs closing of right-of-way, tables action on other items

The Tenaha City Council tabled several items on their agenda at Monday night’s meeting.

According to Mayor Orinthia Johnson, the council decided to hold-off on making any decision on refurbishing the police department, located in the same building as city hall at the Tenaha Municipal Building.

He said it was also decided to table the purchase of a metal storage building that would be located next to city hall, and made no decision on what to do with the old city hall building on the square.

Mayor Johnson advised the council did approve a request to close a right-of-way on city owned property at the above ground water storage tank behind First Baptist Church. He said Ann Swift was planning to install a fence to keep late-night traffic from coming onto her property.

Tenaha City Council did adopt the new city budget and the property tax rate of $0.22 per $100 valuation, the same as last fiscal year.
