Local Sports Round up 9/18/14; sub-varsity football games scheduled today

Sub-varsity football action tonight:

 

The Center Middle School Football teams will be facing Nacogdoches McMichael Middle School instead of Jasper. The games will all be played in Nacogdoches at McMichael Middle School with the 7th Grade B team starting at 4:30 PM, this afternoon. All 7th Grade A will follow immediately after B, then 8th Grade B team, and finishing with 8th Grade A Team.

 

The Center Freshmen and JV football teams will combine for a single game versus the Jasper Bulldogs tonight. The game will be in Jasper at 6 PM.

 

In other games, the Shelbyville JV will take on the Carthage JV B Team at 4:30 in Carthage; the Tenaha Jr. High and JV teams will be home to play White Oak starting at 5 p.m., JV should start around 7:30 p.m.; the Joaquin Jr. High and JV are home against Cayuga at 5 p.m.; Timpson has an open date; and Garrison goes to New Diana in sub-varsity play.

 

This week’s varsity high school football schedule has the Center Roughriders wrapping up a three-game home stand as Jasper comes to Center. Center Broadcasting will have all the action on KDET online at cbc-radio.com and on 92.5 KXXE.

 

In addition, a couple of state-ranked teams go head-to-head as Class 2A #3 Tenaha goes to Class 3A #10 ranked White Oak.

 

Also, Shelbyville at Colmesneil, Joaquin at Cayuga in our Shelby County Game of the Week on Q-100, KQBB and online at cbc-radio.com; Timpson has an open date, San Augustine goes to Groveton, New Diana at Garrison, and Logansport at Red River.

 

The SFA Lumberjacks are home Saturday to play Weber State before the start of Southland Conference play. Kick-off at Homer Bryce Stadium is 6 p.m.

In volleyball, the Center Lady Riders will host the Shelbyville Lady Dragons at 10 a.m. Saturday, while the Timpson Lady Bears are will open district tomorrow, Friday at home with Gary.

 

The Center Rider Varsity Tennis will be home today to take on Lufkin, and will be in Lindale Saturday morning.

 

There will be an antique and classic car show at McMahan’s Chapel, 10 miles east of San Augustine, on Saturday, Sept. 20. Registration gets underway at 8 a.m., with the show starting at 10 a.m. Entry fee is $20 for all vehicles. There will be hamburgers and hot dogs, and fixins for $6 each.
