Local Sports Round up 9/15/14; Weather halts Friday's football, Week 4 action scheduled

Weather got the best of local high school football last Friday night, as the Center-Garrison, Tenaha-Shelbyville, and Timpson-Beckville games were all cancelled as lightning continually danced around the respective playing fields, or power was lost, as was the case in Center. The games were all halted by officials after they had started, and all declared “no contests”.

The San Augustine Wolves drop to 0-3 after Dallas Episcopal takes a 63-34 win Saturday.

In other area games, the Logansport Tigers are 1-1 after a 29-26 win over Lakeview; Nacogdoches over Carthage, 34-14; Hemphill beats West Hardin, 50-0; Elysian Fields over West Sabine, 34-6; West Orange-Stark beats Jasper, 34-7; and Lufkin loses to River Ridge John Curtis of Louisiana 32-25 Saturday in Shreveport.

This week’s schedule has Jasper at Center, Tenaha at White Oak, Joaquin at Cayuga, Shelbyville at Colmesneil, Timpson has an open date, San Augustine at Groveton, and Logansport at Red River.

The SFA Lumberjacks are 2-1 on the season after a 38-17 win against Texas A&M-Commerce at Homer Bryce Stadium Saturday night.
