Local Sports Round up 9/9/14; Don Wall's Shelby County Coaches' Show airs tonight on Q100, KQBB @ 7 p.m., Tenaha Tigers remain #3

It's Tuesday, and Don Wall's Shelby County Coaches' Show airs tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. on Q-100 KQBB.

 

There’s no change atop the Class 2A AP Texas High School Football Poll heading into Week 3, as the Tenaha Tigers are till No. 3, behind #1 Refugio and #2 Mart. Alto is No. 15, and West Sabine No. 19. In Class 3A, Cisco is still the top team, with Corrigan-Camden holding onto No. 5, Kirbyville No. 7, Waskom No. 8, while White Oak is 11th, Arp 12th, and Newton is No. 21. Four A’s No. 1 team is Stephenville, with Gilmer No. 5, Carthage No. 9, Gladewater No. 13, and Tatum at No. 15. Up in 5A, there’s an East Texas dominance, as the No. 1 team is John Tyler, followed by Lufkin at No. 2 and Longview is No. 19. The top team in 6A is still Allen.

 

This Friday night’s football has the Center Roughriders at home against the Garrison Bulldogs, and the Shelbyville Dragons go to the Tenaha Tigers in our Center Broadcasting Shelby County Game of the Week. Elsewhere, the Timpson Bears have their home opener with Beckville, the Joaquin Rams have an open date, and the San Augustine Wolves have a Saturday afternoon game in Dallas against the Episcopal School of Dallas. The Logansport Tigers have their home opener against Lakeview.

 

The Center Lady Rider volleyball team will be at Chapel Hill for a tri-match along with Sabine today, while the Timpson Lady Bears go to Elysian Fields.
