DU Banquet set for Saturday night

The 37th Annual Shelby County Ducks Unlimited Banquet will be Saturday night at the Windham Civic Center.

 

Shelby County Ducks Unlimited Area Chairman Wil Blackshear says the local DU chapter is coming off a record breaking money raising event a year ago, and Shelby County DU is ranked in the Top 20 in Texas, and is 78th in the world out of over 2,800 DU chapters. He added monies raised from Saturday's event go to assist with wetland preservation across the country and right here in Shelby County at the North Toledo Bend Wildlife Management area near Joaquin.

 

Saturday night’s banquet will include an all-u-can eat seafood buffet and open bar, along with a lot of fun. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m., and the auction starts at 8 p.m.

 

Blackshear said there will be table top games, lots of guns for auction and silent auction and raffle. There will be a first time 7 gun pistol raffle, and several hunts, including a duck/goose hunt, and a duck/goose/alligator hunt provided and guided by “Swamp People’s”, Harlan ‘Big Foot’ Hatcher, who will also be in attendance at Saturday night’s banquet.

 

Blackshear added if you will “like” Shelby County Ducks Unlimited on Facebook, you will be get $50 worth of raffle tickets for a “Facebook only” table drawing.)

Single tickets are $35 and $55 a couple. For tickets, call Wil Blackshear at 488-0512, or you can get them at the door Saturday evening at the Windham Civic Center.
