Narrow county road leads to incident involving CISD bus, passenger car

No serious injuries were reported when a Center ISD bus was involved in an after-school incident with a personal passenger car on a narrow county road Friday afternoon.

DPS Trooper Keith Jones says the bus driver failed to yield half of County Road 1024 to a GMC Terrain, forcing the vehicle to take evasive measures and travel up an embankment.

Trooper Jones’ report said the bus driver, 47-year old Rebecca Spann Harkness was cited for failure to give up one-half of roadway.

The driver of the Terrain was 24-year old Jenny Lee Anderson, along with passenger, 24-year old Aaron Dexter Broussard, and two children. Broussard was taken by ACE EMS to Nacogdoches Memorial with minor injuries.

There were three young children on the bus, with no injuries reported.
