Funeral Notices: 8/25/14

Watson & Sons Funeral Home announces service for 83-year old Gwen Thomas “Skeet” Rawson of Tenaha. He passed away Sunday in Lufkin Memorial Rehab Hospital following a severe illness. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Watson & Sons Funeral Home. Prior to the memorial service, a visitation will be held beginning at 12 noon, and his family invites all of his friends to attend. He was the former owner of Tenaha Milling Company. Among “Skeet” Rawson’s survivors are his wife, Analea Rawson of Tenaha; daughters, Renee Rawson Phillips of Prosper and Amanda Jackson of Cayuga; son Matt Rawson of Tenaha; and brother, Dean Rawson.

 

Garrison Funeral Home announces service for 76-year old Don Dotson of Garrison. He passed away Sunday at his residence. Service will be at 12 noon Thursday at Garrison Funeral Home. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service. Among Don Dotson’s survivors are, wife, Glendolyn Dotson of Garrison; children, Donna Sue Dotson of South Carolina; Dickie Wayne Dotson, Debbie Donaldson, John Dotson and Jeff Dotson, all of North Carolina, and Kim Hutchins of Dickinson; stepson, Eddie O’Bryan of Pearland; brothers, Billie Dotson, Jimmy Dotson, Dean Dotson, Albert Wayne Dotson and Michael Dotson; and sisters, Pat Travis, Barbara Wills and Mary Lankford.

 

 

Mangum Funeral Home announces service for 74-year old Bro. Kenneth Verner of Center. He passed away Friday at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. Service will be at 10 a.m. this morning at New Hope Congregational Methodist Church in Center, with burial to follow at New Hope Cemetery. He retired as pastor of New Hope Congregational Methodist Church in 2011, and pastored the Tennessee Presbyterian Church in Shelby County, on several occasions, and was doing so until the time of his death. He also worked as a commercial artist and sign painter and owned and operated JKV Art/Design. Among Bro. Kenneth Verner’s survivors are, wife, Evelyn Lawson Meeks Verner of Center; son, Craig Verner of Quinlan, and Timothy of Center; step children, James Everett Meeks of Tracy City, TN, Johanna Ries of Franklin, NC, Timothy Lyn Meeks and Jeremy Houston Meeks of Fayetteville, TN; and sisters, Mary Mitchell of Nacogdoches, Naomi Brimhall of Bryan, Jane Anderton of Sheffield, Alabama, and Carolyn Wines of Lake Jackson. In lieu of flowers, family request donations can be made to one of the following charities: Ministerial Alliance (Good Samaritan Fund) c/o Bro. Michael Hale 117 Cora St. Center; New Hope Congregational Methodist Church c/o Dorothy Fausett 404 Parks St. Center; or Congregational Methodist Church General Conference fund for Missions.

 

Mangum Funeral Home announces a memorial visitation for 60-year old Joseph “Jody” Frank Whitman of Copperas Cove, formerly of Shelbyville and Joaquin. He passed away Friday at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. Memorial visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at Mangum Funeral Home. Among Joseph “Jody” Frank Whitman’s survivors are, daughters, Renee Martin of Copperas Cove, Louise Hernandez of Prairieville, LA, and Heather Kendrick of Joaquin.

 

 

Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine announces memorial service for 93-year old Murrel Williams of San Augustine. She passed away Friday at her residence. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in San Augustine, with burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Among Murrel Williams’ survivors are a son, John Mason Williams of San Augustine; and a daughter, Janis Louise Lorenson of Rhode Island.
