TxDOT has construction projects undeway in Shelby County

Lufkin TxDOT has informed us that there are two construction projects under way on SH 7 in Shelby County, and both have reduced the speed limits to 65 mph. This is temporary and only for construction.

 

TxDOT’s Kathi Smith says the contractor is Odum Services of Marshall, and there will be an upgrade to the guardrail to bring up to current standards on SH 7 from the San Augustine County Line to about 4.5 miles north of FM 2913. It also includes upgrades on US 96 from US 59 to SH 87. She said work started Monday and is expected to take about three months to complete. The cost is of the project is $840,000.

 

Also, Moore Bros Construction of Lufkin has the other contract to resurface SH 7 from Mt. Herman to US 96 at a cost of $2.1 million. This project also started Monday and is expected to be completed in approximately three months.
