UPDATE: Filing continues for city, school board elections through Aug. 18

With the sign-up deadline for a place on the Nov. 4 city and school board ballot coming up next Monday, Aug. 18, there’s been some additions since our update yesterday.

 

In the City of Center, all four incumbents have filed for re-election to the council; they include at-large positions held by Leigh Porterfield and Jim Forbes; Dist. 2 Jerry Lathan and Dist. 4 Charles Rushing. Challenging Councilman Lathan is Jud Matthews.

 

In the Center ISD Trustee election; all four incumbents have filed, Dr. Dixon Golden, Ortega Cartwright, Jim Sawyer and Deborah Chadwick.

 

The Excelsior ISD Trustee election has four positions up, with L.D. Eddins having been the lone incumbent thus far to file. Spots also up are those of Bennie Russell, Bo Barbe and James Miles.

 

In San Augustine, Mayor Leroy Hughes has filed, in addition to Council members Joe Verhalen and Mike Malone, and in the San Augustine ISD Trustee’s race, incumbents Orvin Garrett, Ryan Garcia, Edwin Henley and Charles Donald Boyett are running, and challenging Garrett for Position 5 is Dennis Barnes.

 

Early Voting will take place Oct. 20 thru Oct. 31.
