The Shelby County Commissioners' Court has a regular meeting this morning at 9:30, and among the agenda items for discussion and possible action, will be reappointing John Howard to serve as a Burke Center Board Member for a two-year term; adoption of a couple of Fair Housing policies; and possibly taking action on getting an appraisal and survey on the old elementary school property on Nacogdoches Street, owned by the county.
County Judge Rick Campbell told us it’s the court's intentions to give some two-thirds ownership of the facility to Tri-County, excluding the old library and fourth-grade wing, with certain stipulations should Tri-County ever leave. He said the county didn't have the funding available to renovate the buildings as needed for selling. Tri-County has had use of the facility for close to four years.
Commissioners are also expected to approve relocation of Election Precinct 1West from Center Christian Family Life Center to the JOI Ranch building for all future elections.
In addition, Nayeli Gonzalez will address the court in regards to a school bus turn-around on County Roads 1043 and County Road 1044.
Shelby County Commissioners will also have a special meeting at 9:30 Wednesday morning to discuss the tax rate; if proposed tax rate will exceed the rollback rate or the effective tax rate (whichever is lower), take record vote and schedule public hearing.
