Center man arrested for burglary, felon in possession of firearm

A Center man has been arrested for burglarizing a residence in the James Community, in addition to unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Sheriff Willis Blackwell reports that 34-year old Roshea Deon Rushing was taken into custody July 20 for the burglary of a residence on County Road 3126.

Sheriff Blackwell says deputies responded to a 911 call to James Grocery concerning a suspect that had broken into a residence and had gotten a ride there from a man living at the residence.

Deputies Cody Muse and Michael Griffin, along with Center Police Department Officer Steven Thornburgh located Rushing on County Road 3215 after they heard a gun shot. Rushing was found in possession of a .22 caliber pistol and a small amount of marijuana. Deputies believe the suspect was possibly under the influence of PCP.

After interviewing the complainants, Jaime and Tiffany Teodoro, it was discovered that Rushing had driven a car through a fence, got it stuck, then kicked in the door to the Teodoro residence, awoke them, and asked for a ride to James Grocery.

Jaime Teodoro drove Rushing to the store and dropped him off.

Bond was set by Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 Margie Anderson at $40,000 for Burglary of a Habitation, and $20,000 for Possession of a Firearm.

The case was investigated by Kevin Windham of the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.
