One of the owners of the former North East Texas EMS and a supervisor for the ambulance service has been sentenced by a federal judge in a health care fraud conspiracy.
Court records indicate that 57-year old Cathy Harvill of Elgin will serve 27 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release and must pay over $787,000 in restitution.
n addition, 43-year old Shon Cooper of Center was sentenced to five years probation and must pay $93,400 in restitution.
Sentencing for Harvill’s husband, 50-year old William Harvill has been continued.
All three conspired for over 5-years, from 2007 to 2012, to make false claims through Medicare and Medicaid by using the ambulance services when it was not necessary.
Cooper supervised the Nacogdoches office of the Center-based company.
