Nacogdoches City Council agrees to help with funding for proposed water park

At last night’s Nacogdoches City Council meeting, the governing body decided after a public hearing to enter into an economic development agreement with Splash Kingdom. There were pros and cons voiced at the meeting, but the council passed the agreement by a 4-1 vote. Splash Kingdom owner, Johnny Blevins has other water parks in Canton and Shreveport. The $6 million proposed facility would be built on city-owned property on University Drive.  Nacogdoches Council voted last night to give $500,000 worth of land, $112,000 in cash and a $170,000 advance. The park is expected to open in June 2015.
