Court of Criminal Appeals denies Tanner for part in kidnapping

The Texas Court of Appeals has denied another woman an appeal for her conviction of kidnapping a boy in 2003.

Krystle Rosie Tanner was convicted by a San Augustine County jury in 2013 for her part in kidnapping Miguel Morin in Houston, and keeping him until they were arrested in 2011.

Tanner’s mother, Gloria Walker, who was convicted of the same charges, was also denied her appeal last month. Tanner’s legal team alleged that the state violated her right to due process by failing to preserve evidence that her counsel to mount an effective defense.

Tanner’s appeal also said the court abused its discretion when it excluded testimony from her aunt, and she received ineffective legal assistance.

Tanner received two concurrent 8-year prison sentences for her part in the kidnapping.

For eight years, Tanner and her mother hid Miguel Morin in homes all over Central and East Texas.
