High school football players across the state of Texas will take to the practice field today when workouts begin for the upcoming season. There’s no contact allowed the first four days. However, that changes Friday with the first day of full pads. Here's a rundown of local teams and their first practice starts today. Center will meet at 9 a.m., with practice from 5 to 8:45 p.m.; Shelbyville will get started at 9:30 a.m.; Joaquin is set to go at 7:30 a.m.; Timpson at 7 a.m.; Tenaha at 8 a.m. and San Augustine will meet at 3:30 p.m., and plan to hit the field around 5 p.m. Monday.
