Joaquin men ejected from vehicle in one-vehicle accident Saturday, recovering from injuries

Two Joaquin men escaped with their lives Saturday morning in Joaquin when the vehicle they were traveling in went off the roadway, struck two culverts and rolled several times, ejecting the driver and passenger.

According to a report on Shelby County Today.com, 23-year old Jacob McFadden, the driver of the Chevrolet Avalanche, and 23-year old Cody McFadden, were both life-flighted from the scene.

The article says Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Daniel Dellenger reports the vehicle was westbound on U.S. Hwy. 84 East of Joaquin just before 7 a.m., when it passed Coulter Street, left the roadway to the left, struck three mailboxes, continued traveling and struck two culverts before rolling and ejecting both men.

The report says Jacob McFadden was taken by Life Air Rescue to University Health in Shreveport, while a PHI helicopter transported Cody McFadden to Nacogdoches Memorial.

Center Broadcasting was told Sunday evening the McFaddens are cousins, and that Jacob McFadden remains in ICU, and Cody McFadden was to have possibly been released yesterday.

The accident continues under investigation.
