Walker has prison sentence appeal rejected

A San Augustine woman serving a 30-year prison sentence for kidnapping had her petition for review rejected by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals this week.

It’s reported, 53-year old Gloria Walker argued in her handwritten petition she should have been tried separately from her daughter, 29-year old Krystle Tanner.

Walker was sentenced in February 2013 after being found guilty by a San Augustine County jury. She and Tanner were arrested in April 2012 after being on the run for eight years after kidnapping Miguel Morin while babysitting him overnight.

Court documents say Tanner hid Miguel in homes all over Central and East Texas, allowing him to believe he was younger than he actually was.

The court rejected the appeal, saying it exceeds the proper length. Walker is allowed to re-draw the petition within 30 days.

Tanner, was sentenced to eight years for kidnapping and reckless injury to a child.
